Roaring Forties Distillers was founded in 2016 in the Margaret River wine region of Western Australia with a desire to recycle unwanted wine into usable spirit for the wineries of the region. With over two hundred grape growers in the region few if any were producing wine spirit (most likely due to the lack of a local contract distiller). Many create fortified wines or ports using spirit sourced from other wine regions. By recycling unwanted wines into spirit wineries were able to create products entirely from their own vineyards.

 

From these early beginnings Roaring Forties has expanded into producing its own range of spirits utilizing high quality wines from local producers along with a limited range of Australian sugar cane based spirit drinks.

All of our products are single batch pot distilled and as such have a unique character imparted by the raw materials and the locally charred oak barrels.

Our inspiration to expand was drawn from years of working with local wines and the complexity of each vintage giving impetus to create brandies that can compete on the world stage.  Utilising traditional production techniques, our aim has been to produce a quality aged spirit which we believe we have achieved that with our first VSOP Conto brandy vintaged in 2018.
